Women Empowerment and Gender Equity
Amel Association International recognizes that true social transformation begins with gender equality. Through protection, livelihoods, leadership, health, and community mobilization, Amel supports women and girls facing violence, displacement, and socioeconomic marginalization.
Protection, Equality, and Economic Independence
Amel’s women empowerment programmes protect survivors, promote equal rights, expand livelihood opportunities, and strengthen women’s participation in family, community, economic, and public life.

- Domestic and intimate partner violence reports increased by 30–50% since 2020, while many cases remain unreported due to stigma.
- Women-headed households face poverty, limited employment, and weak access to social protection.
- Refugee women and girls face heightened risks of early marriage, exploitation, and gender-based violence.
- Less than 50% of survivors can access specialized services, particularly outside urban centers.

- Survivors face high levels of trauma, anxiety, and depression affecting wellbeing and participation.
