Child Protection

Amel Association International promotes the wellbeing, safety, dignity, and development of children and families through integrated protection, psychosocial support, creative expression, education referral, and family engagement.

Safe Spaces for Healing and Growth

Targeting children aged 6 to 17, especially those affected by crises, displacement, street situations, and social vulnerability, Amel provides comprehensive care that supports protection, emotional balance, resilience, and long-term inclusion.

Needs

  • Children face neglect, abuse, exploitation, violence, and street-based risks.
  • Refugee children are highly exposed to child labor, early marriage, trafficking, and protection risks.
  • Rising child labor and early marriage increase school dropout risks.
  • Children in remote areas and informal settlements often cannot access services, psychosocial support, or legal protection.
  • Violence, economic hardship, and crisis-related trauma contribute to anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges.
  • Poverty, unsafe environments, and work prevent children from attending school.
  • Children living or working on the streets require mobile, flexible, and child-sensitive interventions.

Programme Approach

Amel adopts an integrated child protection model that combines safe spaces, psychosocial support, creative activities, family engagement, referrals, and community awareness to protect children and strengthen their resilience.

Creating safe spaces where children can express themselves, access support, build emotional resilience, and develop coping mechanisms.

Interactive and Creative Activities

Using games, music, theater, storytelling, drawing, and artistic workshops to support cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Psychosocial Support and Emotional Wellbeing

Helping children understand emotions, develop social skills, communicate safely, strengthen self-confidence, and recover from crisis-related stress.

Case Management and Referrals

Identifying children at risk, providing case management, and linking them with education, health, legal, social, and specialized protection services.

Parental Support and Family Engagement

Equipping caregivers with tools to support their children, promote positive parenting, and create safer family environments.

Impact

  • Street-involved children are reached through mobile teams, direct support, education, and reintegration pathways.
  • Children and families gain counseling, psychosocial activities, and group support, improving resilience and coping skills.
  • Out-of-school children are reintegrated into formal or non-formal education.
  • Families and communities receive training and awareness on child rights and protection.
  • Children gain self-esteem, skills, and knowledge of their rights, reducing vulnerability to abuse.
