Providing health, education, psychosocial support and mobile medical services for vulnerable Lebanese communities and Syrian refugees in Baalbek-Hermel.
What We Do?
El Ain village is located in the Baalbek District of Baalbek-Hermel Governorate, at an elevation of around 1,000 meters on the foothills of the Anti-Lebanon mountains.
The wider Bekaa area hosts hundreds of thousands of registered Syrian refugees, in addition to many unregistered refugees, making access to health, protection and social services essential for both displaced and host communities.
Amel’s El Ain Center was established in 1986 during the Lebanese civil war and following the Israeli invasion, with the aim of providing medical and social services in response to crisis and community needs.
Primary & Specialized Health Care
The center continues to provide basic and specialized health services for vulnerable Lebanese residents and Syrian refugees.
Its long-term presence ensures continuity of care in an underserved area facing economic hardship and humanitarian pressure.
Response to the Syrian Crisis
As a result of the Syrian crisis, the center immediately expanded its interventions to support Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities.
Programmes now include health care, educational activities, psychosocial support and vocational training for young people and women.
Education & Child Protection
The center provides educational activities, including after-school support, alongside child protection and awareness sessions.
These activities help children continue learning, strengthen their resilience and access safer community-based support.
Mobile Medical Clinic
The center is supported by a mobile medical clinic providing health care, psychosocial support and medicine distribution for Syrian refugees.
This mobile approach helps reach families who face barriers to accessing fixed health facilities.
