As part of the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Amel Association International launched a series of activities and field campaigns across its health and social centers under the theme “Pink October: Stories of Life and Initiatives Pulsing with Hope.”
The initiative reflects Amel’s ongoing commitment to empowering women and girls through awareness, prevention, and access to healthcare and psychosocial support.
From Khiam to Maachouk, passing through Bajour, Haret Hreik, Saida, and Mashghara, Amel’s centers glowed with pink — the color of courage, compassion, and hope.
In Khiam, the mobile medical clinic organized an awareness campaign on early detection, during which the medical and nursing teams offered practical demonstrations on self-examination and periodic screening, along with the distribution of informational leaflets and free medical checkups.
In Maachouk (Tyre district), the Amel Health Center hosted interactive awareness sessions with local women, who courageously shared their personal journeys of battling breast cancer and inspired others through their testimonies of hope and resilience.
At Amel’s Bajour Health Center (Dr. Ghazi Beydoun Center), a special session was held in cooperation with the Mental Health Program, focusing on the importance of psychological support for women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families — especially amid Lebanon’s ongoing socioeconomic challenges.
Meanwhile, the Haret Hreik Health Center continued to provide free medications based on prescriptions issued by Amel physicians, reaffirming the right of every person to access healthcare and treatment.
In Saida Development Center, Amel conducted training sessions on emergency preparedness and response, integrating health empowerment for women as a cross-cutting theme.
In addition, Amel Association International organized an awareness day on breast cancer and mental health at the Correction and Guidance Center in Qamed El-Louz.
The event included a series of interactive sessions and educational workshops aimed at promoting both physical and mental well-being among participants.
The day saw the participation of 45 women, featuring open discussions on the importance of early detection, as well as sessions on psychological support and mental health care for women, in an atmosphere of hope, solidarity, and empowerment.
“We want to transform Pink October from a symbolic occasion into a sustained community movement that spreads knowledge, breaks fear, and gives women the courage to prioritize their health — because early detection is a message of life,” said Dr KamEL Mohanna, president of Amel Association International.
He added that Amel’s campaigns extend beyond awareness to include integrated medical, psychosocial, and social services, implemented by dedicated field teams in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and several national and international partners.
