Delivering accessible and dignified primary health care services for vulnerable Lebanese residents, Syrian refugees and marginalized communities in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
What We Do?
The Haret Hreik area, located in the southern suburb of Beirut, is one of the most vulnerable areas in Lebanon and hosts approximately 50,000 Syrian refugees alongside 50,000 Lebanese residents.
Amel Association International has been operating its center in Haret Hreik since 2009, responding to the refugee crisis and supporting vulnerable Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian communities.
The center provides integrated humanitarian and social services focusing on health, protection, education, vocational training and food security.
Primary Health Care
The center hosts a primary health care unit offering comprehensive medical consultations for vulnerable communities.
Services include general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetric consultations delivered in a dignified and accessible environment.
Medical Examinations & Laboratory Services
Beneficiaries have access to laboratory tests, ultrasounds, medical examinations and follow-up consultations as part of integrated primary health care services.
Essential medicines and vitamins are also distributed according to medical needs.
Women & Children Support
More than half of the center’s beneficiaries are women and children who receive specialized health care and medical follow-up services.
The center works to improve maternal, child and family health while ensuring equal access to care for vulnerable groups.
Support for Refugees & Host Communities
Around 75 percent of patients visiting the center are Syrian refugees, while services also support marginalized Lebanese and Palestinian communities.
Through its integrated approach, the center contributes to strengthening resilience, dignity and social cohesion.
