As Lebanon’s humanitarian and economic crises continue to disproportionately affect older people, Amel Association International remains committed to ensuring that senior citizens receive the care, protection, and support they deserve. Through its Older People Program, Amel provides integrated health and social services across several regions of Lebanon, addressing both immediate needs and long-term wellbeing.
A Holistic Approach to Healthy Ageing
The program offers a wide range of services tailored to the specific needs of older people, including:
- Medical consultations and nursing care with medication provision
- Case management and individualized follow-up
- Psychological support
- Physiotherapy sessions
- Community-based and group psychosocial support activities
- Provision of assistive devices
- Adult diapers and essential hygiene items
- Capacity-building sessions for older people and caregivers
- Home cleaning support in selected locations
- Municipal engagement to strengthen older people’s participation in community decision-making.

The Older People Program is currently implemented in multiple locations, with services adapted to local needs:
Beirut
Older people in Beirut benefit from one of the program’s most comprehensive service packages, including medical and nursing care, physiotherapy, psychosocial support, assistive devices, case management, home cleaning services, and capacity-building activities.
Saida and Mashghara
In South Lebanon and the Western Bekaa, beneficiaries receive integrated medical, psychosocial, and rehabilitation services, while municipality meetings encourage older people’s active participation in local governance and community life.
Akkar
The program supports older people through medical consultations, case management, psychological support, and community-based psychosocial activities, helping address isolation and improve access to healthcare in underserved areas.
Kayfoun and Surrounding Areas
Older people receive medical care alongside assistive devices, adult diapers, dignity kits, and hygiene kits, helping preserve health and dignity while responding to essential daily needs.
Lessa and Surrounding Areas
Services focus on medical consultations, medication provision, case management, and the distribution of adult diapers to support vulnerable older people.
Meshmesh and Surrounding Areas
Beneficiaries receive medical and nursing care, assistive devices, adult diapers, and case management services designed to improve quality of life and access to care.
Sebline and Surrounding Areas
Older people in Sebline benefit from medical care, assistive devices, case management, adult diapers, and community-based psychosocial support sessions that strengthen social connectedness and wellbeing.
