Amel Association International warmly welcomed today a joint delegation from the Stirling Foundation to its headquarters in Beirut. The visit aimed to strengthen partnerships in humanitarian action, community development, and resilience-building efforts across Lebanon.
The delegation included Brittney Stirling, Director for Europe and the Middle East at the Stirling Foundation, and Mark and Lynne Johnstons, Country Managers, accompanied by representatives from the Latter-day Saints Beirut community.
The group was received by Dr. Kamel Mohanna, Founder and President of Amel Association International, who presented Amel’s 45-year journey providing comprehensive services to vulnerable populations throughout Lebanon without discrimination. Dr. Mohanna highlighted Amel’s programs in health, protection, education, rural development, and emergency response, as well as its international advocacy for human dignity and social justice.
During the meeting, both sides discussed potential pathways for collaboration, including:

Strengthening community health and primary care services

Supporting youth, women, and livelihood empowerment initiatives

Enhancing access to education for marginalized communities

Expanding emergency response and resilience programs amid ongoing crises
The Stirling Foundation and Latter-day Saints representatives expressed deep appreciation for Amel’s longstanding impact and reaffirmed their commitment to exploring meaningful partnerships that advance sustainable development and humanitarian support in Lebanon.
Dr. Mohanna emphasized that, “Amel believes in building bridges with partners who share our values of solidarity, humanity, and social justice. Today’s meeting opens the door for constructive cooperation to better serve communities across Lebanon.”
Both sides agreed to continue technical discussions in the coming period to develop a concrete framework for future joint initiatives.
