The President of Amel Association International, Dr. Kamel Mohanna, received a municipal delegation at the organization’s headquarters in Beirut. The delegation included Mr. Khodr Ahmad Mohammad, Mayor of Deir Nbouh; Mr. Maroun Najm, Mayor of Dours; and Mr. Farid Al-Tufayli, Deputy Mayor of Dours, along with a number of municipal council members and advisors.

The meeting focused on mechanisms for coordination and synergy between the municipalities and Amel Association, aiming to activate community partnerships and enhance joint development efforts to serve the local population and better respond to their health and social needs.

Dr. Kamel Mohanna stated:
“At Amel, we believe that development can only be achieved through partnership, and that municipalities are the cornerstone of building capable and cohesive communities. What we witnessed today — the keenness of the mayors and council members to strengthen cooperation with Amel — confirms the existence of a genuine will to work for humanity, beyond narrow interests. We continue our mission, where the human being is the goal, dignity is the principle, and integration between civil society and municipal efforts is the path forward.”

As a gesture of appreciation, the Mayor of Deir Nbouh presented an honorary shield to Dr. Mohanna in recognition of his pioneering efforts in serving the community, especially through Amel Association, which has long served as a model of integrated health and social work.

The attendees emphasized the importance of integrating municipal efforts with grassroots initiatives and the need to broaden areas of cooperation to ensure sustainable local development and the achievement of social justice.

The thank-you note from the Municipality of Deir Nbouh read:

“The Municipality of Deir Nbouh – Miniyeh-Danniyeh District – extends its sincere thanks and deep appreciation to Amel Association International, represented by its President, Dr. Kamel Mohanna, for its dedicated efforts in the health sector.
