The President of Amel Association International, Dr. Kamel Mohanna, received at the organization’s headquarters in Beirut a delegation from the town of Mishmish – Jbeil District. The delegation included the President of Mishmish Municipality, Mr. Paul Noun; the parish priest, Father Tanios Elian; the town’s mukhtar, Mr. Fadi Khoury; and the Director of the Mishmish Primary Healthcare Center, Mr. Daniel Khoury, in the presence of the Association’s Administrative Director, Dr. Ahmad Abboud.

The meeting discussed ways to further develop the programs of the Mishmish Primary Healthcare Center, including expanding the scope of services, strengthening the capacity of the local team, and responding to the growing needs of residents in the town and surrounding villages. This visit comes as a continuation of a cooperation path that began in 2024.

The delegation affirmed that the partnership with Amel Association International—drawing on its long-standing experience in managing more than 40 health and social centers and mobile clinics across Lebanon—constitutes a qualitative added value for the center and the region, especially amid the economic and health challenges facing Lebanese communities.

Dr. Kamel Mohanna welcomed the delegation, stressing that “cooperation between local councils and Amel represents a sustainable development model capable of bringing real change to people’s lives.” He reiterated that the right to health is not a luxury but a fundamental right that enables access to all other rights, noting that Amel puts all its capacities and accumulated expertise at the service of local communities.

The President of Mishmish Municipality, Mr. Paul Noun, expressed his deep appreciation for this partnership, “which reflects a refined model of joint work in the service of the people,” while Father Tanios Elian praised “every initiative carried out with sincerity and love in service of humanity.”

The Center’s Director, Mr. Daniel Khoury, also emphasized that the ambition today is “to expand programs, enhance access to services for residents, and contribute to the advancement of the national health sector through joint work with Amel.”

A Partnership Serving the Community and Upholding Human Dignity

Amel Association International affirms that its collaboration with the Mishmish Primary Healthcare Center and local actors in the town represents a new step toward strengthening health and social services, based on an approach grounded in human dignity, social justice, and community empowerment.
