As violence escalates and displacement spreads across Lebanon, humanitarian needs are rising at a pace that local organizations struggle to keep up with. In the midst of this unfolding crisis, Amel Association International has issued an urgent call for support to sustain its life-saving emergency response across the country. With clashes affecting South Lebanon and triggering waves of displacement toward Beirut, Mount Lebanon, the Bekaa, and the North, the organization warns that humanitarian services could soon face severe disruptions without immediate financial assistance.
Amel estimates that it requires at least 350,000 USD per month to maintain its current emergency operations and ensure that vulnerable communities continue to receive essential healthcare, protection, and relief services. In addition to financial resources, the organization is calling for material donations, particularly medical supplies, protective equipment, and essential health tools required by frontline teams.

A Rapidly Escalating Humanitarian Situation
The latest escalation has forced thousands of families to flee their homes, seeking shelter in already strained urban areas and collective accommodations. For many displaced households, access to healthcare, hygiene supplies, food, and psychosocial support remains limited.
Humanitarian workers warn that the situation is especially critical for women, children, older persons, and individuals living with chronic illnesses. Displacement disrupts access to medication, safe medical care, and protective services, while overcrowded shelters increase health risks and psychological distress.
Amel, one of Lebanon’s longest-standing humanitarian organizations, has mobilized its network of primary healthcare centers, mobile units, and specialized social programs to respond to these urgent needs. Yet, as the crisis intensifies, maintaining these services requires additional support from partners and donors worldwide.
Turning Solidarity into Immediate Impact
According to Amel, every contribution translates directly into concrete assistance for people affected by the crisis.
For instance, just five dollars can provide a health consultation through a mobile medical team, bringing care to displaced families who cannot access clinics. With 45 dollars, a family can receive a hygiene kit that covers essential needs for an entire month.
For individuals living with chronic diseases, continuity of treatment is a matter of survival. A donation of 3,700 dollars can secure a month of chronic medication for 100 patients, ensuring that people with diabetes, hypertension, and other long-term conditions continue to receive the treatment they rely on.
Mental health is another urgent priority in the midst of displacement and insecurity. 63 dollars can fund psychosocial support for one person, helping individuals cope with trauma, stress, and uncertainty. Similarly, 220 dollars can provide comprehensive support for an older person for a full month, covering health monitoring, social assistance, and essential care.
Children, who are often the most vulnerable during crises, also receive targeted assistance. Remedial education and psychosocial activities for 20 children can be provided for 1,000 dollars, helping young people regain a sense of stability and routine. Child protection services, including parental support, can be delivered for 80 dollars per child per month.
Essential Relief for Displaced Families
Beyond healthcare and psychosocial support, Amel continues to distribute critical relief items to families affected by displacement.
These include hygiene kits, dignity kits for menstrual hygiene, food assistance, and basic household support. For example, 35 dollars can provide food or basic assistance to a family for an entire month, while the same amount can supply dignity kits for women for two months.
Basic but essential items such as diapers are also urgently needed. Six dollars can provide a pack of diapers for children or adults, an often overlooked necessity for families facing hardship.
Strengthening the Medical Response
Donations also help expand Amel’s emergency medical capacity. Contributions enable the procurement of medication, protective equipment for healthcare staff, and essential medical supplies for clinics and mobile teams.
For instance, 1,500 dollars can secure medication and protective equipment to cover the needs of 50 patients, while 5,000 dollars can equip a primary healthcare center with wound care and post-surgery supplies for an entire month.
Transport is another key element of emergency care. Medical vehicles used to reach remote or displaced communities require significant funding, with 30,000 dollars needed to support health transportation services.
A Race Against Time
Humanitarian actors warn that without immediate support, access to life-saving healthcare and essential services could soon be compromised. In conflict-affected areas, civilians already face serious obstacles in reaching safe medical facilities, while the growing scale of displacement places additional strain on Lebanon’s fragile humanitarian infrastructure.
If the situation continues to deteriorate, the demand for assistance is expected to increase significantly in the coming weeks. For organizations like Amel, sustaining the emergency response will depend on the solidarity of partners, donors, and concerned citizens.
How to Support
Amel has invited individuals, organizations, and institutions to contribute through several channels.
Partnerships can be developed directly with the organization’s emergency response teams. Those interested in collaborating are encouraged to contact Dr. Zeina Mohanna, Amel’s Programs and Partnerships Coordinator in Lebanon.
Financial contributions can also be made through individual donations via Whish Money at +961 81 163 315 or through online donations, including a dedicated emergency fundraising campaign.
Supporters can also mobilize through the Amel International Movement, which operates branches in the United States, Italy, and France, helping raise awareness and resources for humanitarian efforts in Lebanon.
Standing with Lebanon
Despite the immense challenges facing the country, Amel remains committed to its mission of providing dignity-based humanitarian support to those most in need. The organization emphasizes that international solidarity can make a tangible difference in the lives of families struggling to survive amid displacement and insecurity.
In this critical moment, the call from the field is clear: every act of support can translate into life-saving assistance for communities across Lebanon.
