About Amel

Founded in 1979, Amel Association International is a Lebanese, non-sectarian, non-governmental organisation working in health, education, protection, livelihoods and the environment. Amel delivers services across Lebanon through 40 centres, 16 mobile medical units, two mobile education units and two protection units.

About the role

The Social Worker will implement community-based activities and support access to Amel’s services for migrant workers. The role combines direct support, outreach, service mapping and coordination to strengthen protection, participation and social empowerment.

Main responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to identify people eligible for support under the project.
  • Facilitate psychosocial support (PSS) and awareness-raising sessions.
  • Map available services across relevant sectors and undertake case management activities when needed.
  • Help prepare, organise and implement community-based activities, social cohesion events and other project initiatives.
  • Implement and follow up on empowerment activities.
  • Support accountability to affected populations through complaint and feedback mechanisms, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), focus group discussions and related activities.
  • Participate in staff training and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Collect, organise and archive project data and supporting documents for monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), as well as finance requirements.
  • Prepare activity reports and weekly and monthly progress updates, documenting achievements against project targets, success stories and good practices.
  • Provide timely information to the project management team and maintain close coordination with the Field Coordinator.
  • Attend internal and external coordination meetings as required.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships and uphold ethical and humanitarian standards when supporting people in vulnerable situations.
  • Undertake other duties necessary to support team operations.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
  • At least two years of experience in social work.
  • Experience facilitating psychosocial support and awareness-raising sessions.
  • Experience in case management and community outreach.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards and an understanding of Amel’s values and ethical guidelines.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English.

Previous experience working with migrant workers and knowledge of Lebanon’s Kafala system are assets. French language skills are also an asset.
