Amel Activity Report 2022

In 2022, Amel Association International continued its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities across Lebanon. Driven by a dedicated team of 1,400 workers and volunteers, Amel delivered emergency assistance, healthcare, education, and protection services across 30 centers, 20 health centers, and 9 mobile units.

Here is a breakdown of what was accomplished together in 2022.

Health & Medical Care

Access to healthcare remained a cornerstone of Amel’s response in 2022:

• 267,272 primary healthcare consultations were delivered across health centers.

• 67,272 services were provided by Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) operating in Sour, Khiyam, Mashghara, Kamed el Loz, and El Ain.

• 75,598 medical consultations were conducted through the SAQIRH social cohesion project (62% women, 38% men).

• 29,647 individuals were reached through Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) services, including awareness sessions, subsidized testing, and specialized gynecological and midwifery care.

Protection, Gender & Empowerment

Amel expanded safe spaces and psychosocial support for women, children, and at-risk groups:

• 17,665 girls and women were reached across 5 safe spaces via the Champions of Change initiative.

• 7,857 host-community women and migrant workers received targeted support through New HERizons.

• 2,137 individuals engaged in gender-transformative mentorship via She Leads.

• Over 1,000 women received leadership, communication, and social skills training through the MENNA initiative.

• 4,600+ children and caregivers received direct psychosocial support or completed parenting skills programs.

• 628 street-connected children and families were reached through the Mobile Protection Unit (MPU).

Education & Youth Engagement

Investing in future generations remained essential throughout the year:

• 3,660+ children, youth, and adults benefited from learning and psychosocial support, guided by 175 education team members.

• 8,000 participants engaged with The Ideas Box Project across centers in Haret Hreik, Kamed el Loz, and Khiyam.

• ~300 youth (ages 16–29) were targeted for employability and skills development programs.

Support for Migrant Workers & Older Persons

Targeted assistance focused on highly vulnerable populations facing social and economic hardship:

• 1,400 migrant workers received essential food and non-food items.

• 1,100+ migrants accessed primary healthcare and diagnostic support.

• 600 migrants received rental support, while 165 individuals were assisted with voluntary return to their home countries.

• 2,667 older adults (60+) were reached with comprehensive health and social services.

• 27,869 hot meals were distributed to at least 180 older persons.
