150 children in the municipality of Burj el-Barajneh became actors for a day. The participants, aged between 5 and 17 and mostly Syrian, exceeded expectations when they acted out their own stories regarding their daily lives and culture. They offered significant and original sketches of their experiences, using dance, puppets and music.
This activity was part of the project “Madrasati Ahla ” that is being implemented in Amel’s Haret Hreik Development Center in collaboration with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and “ Un Ponte Per”. The gathering was attended by Dr. Kamel Mohanna and a host of delegates from both organisations, as well as children’s parents and relatives. Through Madrasti Ahla children are receiving educational, psychological and artistic guidance and support to embolden their own strengths and discover their dreams. The project also enables children to learn about the importance of humanitarian action to create a better future for all.
The children planned a speech during the ceremony to mark the end of summer activities with Madrasati Ahla. They spoke of their appreciation to Amel Association International and acknowledged the organisation’s hard work and dedication. They were furthermore thankful that Amel had opened a Center in Haret Hreik, which they consider their second home.
