Statement from Dr. Kamel Mohanna, President of Amel Association International: Solidarity with Lebanon

Share

Lebanon has been grappling with multiple crises for several years, and throughout this time, Amel Association International (Amel) has remained unwavering in its commitment to protecting the fundamental rights of the Lebanese people.
Recently, the South Lebanon region has come under severe attack, leading to the displacement of tens of thousands, causing injuries to civilians, and resulting in tragic loss of life. Since October 2023, Amel’s centers, particularly in Khiam and Arkoub, have been significantly damaged by bombings. The rehabilitation of these centers is currently underway.
The escalating tensions both nationally and regionally have increased the risk of a large-scale conflict in Lebanon. The potential repercussions of such a scenario require us to intensify our preparedness and emergency responses. Our foremost priority is to ensure the uninterrupted provision of health, protection, education, and food security services across Lebanon. At the same time, we are bolstering our medical and essential supplies to respond effectively to any situation, with the support of our dedicated teams, centers, and mobile units.
As we continue to fulfill our responsibilities to the people, we are committed to adapting our interventions to meet the evolving needs on the ground.

We urgently call for international support to help Lebanon and its people overcome the challenges and devastating consequences of the ongoing conflict in South Lebanon, so that they may live with dignity and humanity.
