As part of its ongoing commitment to providing accessible health and social services, Amel Association International, in partnership with UNHCR and Caritas Germany, has implemented a series of awareness, medical, and psychosocial support activities across several of its primary health care centers in Lebanon. These initiatives aim to empower vulnerable communities and strengthen their resilience in the face of daily challenges.
Awareness Sessions at Ain El Remmaneh Primary Health Care Center
At Amel’s center in Ain El Remmaneh, two awareness sessions were held in collaboration with UNHCR. The first session provided a detailed presentation on the new and available services offered by UNHCR, including medical support, protection services, and legal assistance. Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and gain direct insight into their rights and available resources.
In commemoration of World No Tobacco Day, a second awareness session was organized focusing on the health hazards of smoking. The session highlighted the detrimental effects of smoking on respiratory and cardiovascular health and offered practical tips for quitting. Informational brochures were distributed to encourage healthier lifestyle choices.
Health Screenings in Arqoub – Kfarhamam
Following Amel’s preventive health approach, the center in Arqoub – Kfarhamam hosted a health screening day offering free check-ups for children and adults. Services included blood pressure, diabetes, and vision screenings, along with one-on-one health counseling. Cases requiring further medical follow-up were referred to hospitals or specialized care providers within Amel’s network.
Psychosocial Support Activities – Hay El Sellom Center
At the Hay El Sellom center, and as part of the Child Protection Project in partnership with Caritas Germany, Amel conducted a series of psychosocial support sessions for children. One of the standout activities was a creative event titled “Eid Lamb”, during which children expressed their joy through arts and crafts, coloring, and paper-cutting. The activity created a vibrant and interactive environment filled with imagination, teamwork, and joy, offering children a safe space to express themselves and enjoy collective moments of happiness.
These activities reflect Amel Association’s core philosophy of empowerment over relief, aiming to uphold human dignity, social justice, and sustainable development through integrated and rights-based interventions.
