Amel Association International extends its salute and deep appreciation to the Lebanese people for their resilience and patience over the past months in the face of the devastating war that claimed thousands of lives and left countless injured while destroying large parts of Lebanon. This tragedy unfolded amidst open wounds and profound sorrow over the plight of the Palestinian people in Gaza, where televised genocide continues to this day.

We feel joy and hope as we witness the Lebanese returning to their areas, even the destroyed ones, symbolizing their love for life and steadfast hope amidst the rubble. The Amel team was honored to stand by the people, collaborating with humanitarian organizations, the Ministries of Health and Social Affairs, the Emergency Management Committee, and international agencies. This effort included gatherings and shelters, mobile clinics, and centers that remained open throughout the war, such as our center in Tyre, which continued to provide support until the final moments before the ceasefire was declared.

With the leadership of 2,300 workers and volunteers, operating through 40 centers and 24 mobile clinics, Amel will continue its mission to provide primary healthcare, protection, education, and relief services across 15 programs. Strengthening social cohesion and countering divisive and inflammatory rhetoric will also be a top priority, especially as this war revealed a strong sense of solidarity among Lebanese citizens despite attempts by some parties to sow hatred and destabilize social peace. The national spirit proved more decisive than divisive agendas, a foundation upon which we must build.

Moreover, our displaced citizens have shown remarkable patience despite immense sacrifices while welcoming others with open arms. This reflects seeds of social solidarity, highlighting the shared suffering and inherent kindness of people across regions, regardless of their affiliations. This unifying experience underscores the need to build on these bonds. For this purpose, Amel launched a new program inspired by this solidarity, named “Together for Building Citizenship and Preserving Human Dignity.”

Lebanon stands before a real opportunity to renew its social contract based on citizenship, justice, and equality. The displacement experience reaffirmed the authenticity of the Lebanese people. Amel, a progressive social movement with a 50-year legacy of vision and mission, will continue its pioneering role in fostering the “human citizen” as part of a constructive change initiative. We invite all believers in these values to join our movement and take the initiative to heal the wounds.

Amel believes that recovery from the effects of war goes beyond physical reconstruction to include elevating humanity, rebuilding social fabric, and reinforcing a sense of belonging and national solidarity. In the coming phase, the organization will implement initiatives to empower youth and women, reintegrate those affected by war into their communities, and support projects that promote coexistence among diverse Lebanese groups. Additionally, awareness campaigns will be launched to encourage dialogue and reconciliation, founded on the belief that building peace begins with fostering trust among the nation’s citizens.

Amel’s centers, teams, and 24 mobile clinics will remain fully dedicated to serving the people, adapting to the needs of each phase. Currently, the organization is redistributing its teams and restoring its 14 damaged centers in collaboration with partners to secure necessary resources. Programs in centers and newly established sites during the war, such as North Lebanon and Jbeil, will continue until all 40 centers are operational, better than ever before in decades past.

In parallel, Amel is strengthening partnerships across all sectors to support people in rebuilding their lives on every level. It continues to urge international organizations to support Lebanon, especially amidst dwindling aid and the state’s weakened capacities.

Amel reaffirms its unwavering mission and belief in the Lebanese people’s ability to rise like the phoenix. The organization is confident that the new generation, upholding the values of justice and equality, can heal wounds and build a strong Lebanon powered by its people, economy, creativity, and ability to coexist and embrace diversity.

We extend our gratitude to our team and all humanitarian workers who have relentlessly fulfilled their duties even in the most dangerous circumstances, upholding human dignity as the ultimate priority.

Amel calls on international organizations to pursue accountability for Israeli crimes in Lebanon before international courts, including crimes against humanity, the environment, vital and heritage facilities, as well as violations against rescue teams, healthcare centers, and civil defense units. The organization will submit a comprehensive file documenting the damages inflicted on its centers, underscoring the necessity of justice and holding perpetrators accountable. Additionally, Amel calls upon friendly and brotherly countries and expatriates to support Lebanon in reconstruction efforts, rehabilitating infrastructure, and empowering public institutions to provide citizens with a dignified life.

We also demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, halting the daily genocide and ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. Furthermore, we hope for the swift recovery of Syria so it can resume its pivotal role in the region.
