As part of its ongoing humanitarian collaboration with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Amel Association International received today a vital medical donation from the Indian Battalion serving in South Lebanon. The donation, which includes essential medicines and medical supplies, was delivered to Amel’s Al-Fardis Primary Healthcare Center in Hasbaya District—reinforcing efforts to provide dignified and inclusive healthcare access in underserved communities.

This initiative represents more than a gesture of support; it is a reaffirmation of shared values: solidarity, humanity, dignity, and social justice. Since its founding in 1979 during the Lebanese civil war, Amel has remained committed to serving the most marginalized—regardless of nationality, religion, or background—through a rights-based approach to development and humanitarian aid.

“Our partnership with the Indian peacekeepers and UNIFIL reflects a spirit of solidarity that transcends borders,” said Dr. Kamel Mohanna, Founder and President of Amel Association International. “In times of crisis, it is this human connection, grounded in respect and justice, that sustains hope and delivers tangible relief.”

The Al-Fardis Center is part of Amel’s nationwide network of over 40 fixed centers and 24 mobile clinics, which provided nearly 712,000 health interventions in 2024 alone. This donation will directly contribute to enhancing primary healthcare services for vulnerable communities in the southern region, including Lebanese citizens, Syrian refugees, and migrant populations.

For over four decades, Amel has stood as a movement for social justice, empowering communities through integrated programs in healthcare, education, protection, mental health, women’s empowerment, and youth leadership. The organization’s vision remains clear: a world where rights, dignity, and equal opportunities are ensured for all.

Amel extends its gratitude to the Indian Battalion and UNIFIL for their steadfast support and calls on all partners—local and international—to continue advancing collaborative solutions that protect dignity and promote sustainable development in Lebanon and beyond.
