What We Do ?

361,104 registered Syrian refugees, in addition to a huge number of unregistered refugees, are distributed in Bekaa area, including El Ain village which is located at an elevation of 1,000 meters (3,300 ft.) on a foothill of the Anti-Lebanon mountains in Baalbek District of Baalbek-Hermel Governorate, Lebanon.

Amel center at El Ain was established in 1986 during the cruel Lebanese civil war and the Israeli invasion in the late 1970 aiming to provide medical and social services as a response to the crises.
When Lebanon finally reached a more stable situation, the center was maintained open and still operates in order to provide both basic and specialized health services.

As a result of the Syrian crisis, the center intervened immediately to help Syrian refugees, and its projects were expanded to include, in addition to the primary health care, educational activities, psycho-social support, and vocational training for young people and women.
Among the center’s activities:
child protection
primary and specialized health care
Educational activities (after school support etc.)
awareness sessions
The center is also accompanied by a medical mobile clinic that provides health care, psycho-social support and medicine distribution for Syrian refugees.
Number of beneficiaries approx: 50 000 per 2 years.
