Amel is currently running a project that aims to prevent tensions between Syrians and Lebanese through improving access to health services for the most vulnerable of both communities and enhancing inter-community relations. This project started in January 2016 and is funded by the Agence Française du Développement, a financial institution that implements France’s official development assistance to developing countries and overseas territories. Amel also works with International Alert, an international NGO, in order to offer support and guidance in the implementation of activities particularly on the social cohesion component. The on-going project will target Lebanese as well as Syrian refugees.

In order to improve the access to health services to vulnerable populations Amel focuses on a social cohesion approach involving different actors through various activities. So far Amel has implemented medical consultations (general and specialized) within 3 primary health care centers as well as via 3 mobiles clinics.

Amel is also leading awareness sessions to gather both communities in order to create a plateform of experiences exchanges from the participants and foster communication between the two communities. The approach of this specific community is conflict resolution. Besides, coordination meetings are operational in three different regions of Lebanon (Bekaa, Beirut and South Lebanon) gathering local stakeholders and in collaboration with the municipalities to enhance local dynamics and settle a conflict resolution plateform.[/vc_column_text]
