Education and Vocational Training for All

This project is currently implemented in Amel’s center of Ain el Remaneh where Amel is targeting 250 children, both refugees and vulnerable Lebanese aged from 7 to 17 years old.

The activities take place three days a week, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Every day, there are two hours of homework support and remedial classes, and one hour of animations and cultural activities (movies, drawing, painting, singing, dancing, theatre, sport, etc).
The children are supervised by ten teachers, and a team of animators and voluteers. They also benefit from a psycho-social support since one social worker and one psychologist are dedicated to this project. In addition to the daily activities, community events with cultural activities are regularly organized, as well as awareness sessions. These events aim at strengthening the link with the families, to reinforce the social cohesion, and to raise awareness among the children and their parents about some quotidian issues (as violence, social behavior, hygiene, self-confidence, etc.).

The livelihood part of the project is dedicated to young refugees and vulnerable Lebanese aged from 15 to 25 and is currently implemented in Mashgharah and in Khiam areas (South Lebanon). It aims at increasing youth’s access to vocational trainings and at improving their personal and professional skills. The youth follow trainings in English, computer sciences, life skills, nursing, and cooking on a daily basis during a three-month cycle.
Recreational, cultural, artistic, and sporting activities are also regularly organized in order to support the integration and the interaction between the youth. Moreover, community events take place once a month in order to strengthen the social cohesion
The beneficiaries also benefit from a psycho-social support since this project is supervised by a social worker and a psychologist. Eventually, in order to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the vocational trainings, the youth have the opportunity to do internships which are found with the help of the social worker.
